“Facebook now allows users to delete their data entirely from the site when they quit.”

Good riddance!  I blogged before about how I don’t want all these older professionals invading my social networks… but they did it anyway.  And a year later, they’re moving on to the next thing, only to leave us with a now spam-filled advertising hub that people aren’t interested in using anymore.

Yes, the ‘fun-filled’ zombie invites and useless apps are innovations that came with Facebook opening their developer’s platform.  It also brought actual useful widgets like radar, scrabulous and twitter, but for the most part, it’s not the ‘next big thing.’  People were never going to use it as their go-to dashboard for all things social like so many bloggers touted.  Most people who were on the bleeding edge way back at the second half of last year, knew that the world was going semantic and that was what Web 3.0 was all about.  They were just bored and waiting for the rest of the world to effing catch up already.

So thanks for using MySpace and Facebook like corner store whores, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.  Now that you’re properly fucked the platforms, the early adopters who actually care, have to come back and detox the websites.  Either that or just abandon the networks or high school, college and random friends that we spent years developing.
