CES tailing in…

There’s been a lot of news about gadgets, technologies, and the all mighty touch screen coming from bloggers and journalists alike at CES 2008.  I would love to be there, but spending my one of my three (or is it four?) week vacations at geek-fest in Vegas instead of working on my tan?… Probably worth it, but I totally didn’t plan.

Well, after some much drooling and asking some invisible God force why I got left out of the experience, here are some of my favorites:

.

There seems to be much in store for the PSP, including game sample downloads and a lot more portable content coming out way… maybe it’s time I plugged the thing in for a system update.  That and a better keyboard. … but wait!  There might be a Blu-ray to PSP movie transfer in the future? w00t!

82-inches of love, baby and in 3840 x 2160 resolution?  Sign me up!

From cnet:

Philips’ Eco TV sips power, saves rainforest

“…Dimming the backlight in darker scenes has the dual benefit of saving power and improving black-level performance, according to the company.”

Riiiiight.  Call me skeptical, but is Philips just crying green?  No doubt a dimmer backlight helps with “black-level” performance, but energy saving?  How much energy?  Rainforest saving

.

What’s this?  Well it’s a computer with an Intel Core Duo 1.66GHz CPU with 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, a DVD-ROM/CDRW drive, radio interface, 24-bit digital-to-analog converters for sound, Dolby Digital 7.1 optical output, USB/SD/auxiliary jack ports, Bluetooth,  GPS, and mayhaps Wi-fi…

Finally!

And with that much memory, you don’t even have to say, “Where the ipod dock?”

Only bad news: it runs on Vista.

.

A bed that lulls you to sleep…  See what Michelle Thatcher has to say.

.

pimp your car with 21 speakers and 16 LCDs…yeah…

.

Okay, I’m all gadgeted out.  I’ve already read some great coverage of a vid cam with built in hard drive that easily fits into a large pocket, some news about the Rokr by Motorola that has some amazing touch screen capabilities, and then the IdeaPad… but really no more from me today.
