Tibbets, the pilot who dropped the Hiroshima bomb in 1945, died today. I read this article on BBC and am loving this quote:
“In 1995, Gen Tibbets denounced as a “damn big insult” a planned 50th anniversary exhibition of the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian Institution that put the bombing in context of the suffering it caused.
He and veterans groups said too much attention was being paid to Japan’s suffering and not enough to its military brutality. “
Yes! Where is Smithsonian exhibit on the murders in Nanjing, China, where Japanese officers competed to see who could kill more Chinese people? The tribute to Korean and Chinese women who were forced into prostitution for the Japanese army? Maybe a memorial for the men, women, and children injected with diseases and forced to mate and die horrible, painful deaths for the curiosity of Japanese scientists?
Forgiveness is great. Repentence is necessary.
Sorry, I’ll stop being preachy now.

iPhone: Time’s Invention of the Year from Gizmodo:
“Why would Lev Grossman, one of the first four few reviewers of the iPhone, name Apple’s gadget Time’s Invention of the Year? Here are his five reasons: it’s pretty, it’s got a touchscreen, it’ll make other phones better, it’s a development platform (not just a phone), and it’ll be upgraded for years to come.”

… because those reasons couldn’t possibly apply to any other phone… Although I fully agree with Grossman’s first two reasons and will even give him the third; the fourth and fifth aren’t completely true. As Jason from Gizmodo states, the development platform isn’t coming out until February, and most who got the iPhone early and were actually using it on a daily basis, know that there are quirks and problems with the phone. Thanks for trying, but your fancy marketing and god-like product designers have left a cognitive dissonance that won’t fade from my tastebuds.

Click to enlarge. Hilarious… I did see a lot of “sexy” pirates this year– that’s the huge lime green section. I guess I joined the gang…

Okay, that’s it from me… night!
