No, not Louis Vuitton. Of course I mean Las Vegas.
Don’t believe the hype cuz it’s much better than that.
Best start at the beginning:
Friday: For some reason i thought it was a good idea to drink the Kool Aid and watch numerous episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would be a better idea than getting sleep on Thursday night. I’ve been a bit of an insomniac recently. Not totally sure why. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it feels like my entire life has just rolled through the apex and now is shooting down to oblivion, but whatever.
Friday work went by pretty smoothly, a.k.a. I don’t remember what I did, but I’m hoping I was productive. Wawi was horribly horribly sick, like puking every 30 minutes sick, and had to go home at noon. So Laura and I trucked through the rest of the day. I helped her put together to pieces of collateral for clients, and at 5:15 ish, we started walking to my parking lot. Turns out, Wawi decided to stay home for the weekend and feel better, so it would just be the two of us. Trust me when I say that I love Laura, but it’s always more fun with more people, so we were a bit bummed out.
After some drinks at the airport and food (hmmm that tuna melt was soo goood), things were starting to look up. I think Laura was pretty tired because she worked her ass off on Thursday, packed Friday morning, and was scrambling to finish her to-do list all day Friday.
The plane ride was fine, although freeeezing (I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it).
Got to Vegas around 9pm. We could see the strip from the airport window after we landed, and I was so excited to get out there and party. It took us effing 2 hours to get to the hotel. The shuttle took forever, and then it went around forever, and it was drizzling outside.
Well, we got there, were hungry, and Laura’s friend Claudia wasn’t picking up her phone. I finally convinced her to get some food at the Venetian. Wearing heels is not a good idea for the hike down the strip. Yes, it’s not that long, but when it’s lightly drizzling, cold, and you’re wearing 4 inch heels… eeeh. We met some random guy, who was kinda wondering around and heading towards the Flamingo. Clearly hitting on me, but I have to say, after Ty, after Seher, and after all this random-ish… I definitely enjoyed the attention. So as any girl would do (not really), I gave him a hard time and just bs-ed around. He walked us to the Venetian and left. (That’s what I love about Vegas. Whether it’s a conversation on the street or a drink or even a one night stand: no strings attached. No worries, it was just a conversation down the street.)
The food was amazing!
No really. The clam chowder… haven’t had something that good since Phila before graduation. Serious. You’d think with all the seafood in SF, ther clam chowder would be off the hinges… not so much. In fact, the opposite side of the spectrum.
Had some of Laura’s salad and some sushi. It was amazingly good. I have to say, I spent most of my money in Vegas on drinks and food… what does that say about fat people? They rock. Clearly.
It was around 1am by the time we got out of ‘dinner’, so we just hopped by the local V Bar in the Venetian. It was pretty empty, had no cover, and seemed pretty chill. We danced for maybe 10-20 minutes and then headed out. I really wanted to party it up, but we were both exhausted.
Got back to the hotel at 2am… yes, we definitely took a cab.
Slept til 11am. Called parents. Woke Laura up.
We leisurely walked to the Stratosphere, which is this huge tower thing on the north (?) well upper end of the strip. We stopped by a couple of gift shops. I wasn’t thinking of getting anyone anything, but Laura had this brilliant idea of getting people magnetic poker chips, so we bought like 15. Of course, I was going to bargain. I mean come on… we were getting 15. So I got us a 25% discount and then, found out at the next store that they were 50% cheaper than the original value. Ick. Oh, well. At least I tried. Grabbed some shades for me because I somehow forgot my Gucci’s at home.
Popped our ears while going up to the tower and had a delicious brunch there. I had half a hamburger b/c well, that thing was huge and it’s always nice to share. Half way through breakfast, I check my phone and saw that I had 3 missed called and a voicemail from Wawi… oops.
This is what I heard (image 5 words a second): Hi, mojito (pronounced the “American English” way). Guess what? I’m at the airport and I’m taking a plane to Vegas. I woke up this morning and was feeling much better. So I thought why am I here; I want to be in Vegas. I’ll be there at 4:30. My phone doesn’t work there, so I’ll call you when I get there on a pay phone. See you soon!
Hahahah… I think I got so excited that I shook the tables. We finished off dessert and heading down towards the Fashion Show Mall to do some much needed shopping and site seeing.
